YouTube Podcaster takes your YouTube video searches and creates RSS feeds of either links or download-able videos from them. In a standard RSS reader, the search results come back as video titles and links, but copy the link to the iTunes feed and you'll get a stream of MP4-formatted videos. Given the popularity of the video sharing site, you'll want to winnow down your search to avoid overwhelming your reader or iTunes player every hour, but the service provides two seriously useful functions that YouTube itself doesn't. David Berube contacted at the weekend regarding MoFuse, the online service which lets Bloggers mobalize their blog. I first came across MoFuse in January though at the time I decided just to announce it rather than look at the service in depth. Last week I showed you ‘The quick and easy way to create a .mobi site for your blog‘ though the sole plugin I recommended was only for WordPress users therefore I was keen to look at an alternative for those who use Blogger or some other blogging platform. Who uses MoFuse? The home page of MoFuse promotes the fact that bloggers can make money by mobalizing their content. It also highlights that it can create an iphone version of your blog and that large blogs like Mashable and ReadWriteWeb use the service. I believe the latter is perhaps a case of the truth being stretched a little. Both sites did create MoFuse versions of their blogs in order to review the service earlier this year however neither site seems to be using it with no promotion of the service on their sites. As the name suggests, Game XP was developed with gaming in mind. It's not an application you'll run all the time, but if you're launching a CPU-intense app—like a game, for example—Game XP makes quick tweaks to optimize your system and improve your experience. You can toggle what you want Game XP to fiddle with, including video card, network, memory, and cosmetic settings. Reader moritzvd repurposed a $20 Mackis CD storage drawer from IKEA into a killer laptop stand, organizer, and desktop declutterer. The conversion is dead simple, requiring little more than a hole in the back of the container to run cables and some small lifts on top to add cooling space between the laptop and the stand. Moritzvd's clever touches—like storing an external USB drive for Time Machine backups in one of the drawers—demonstrate the stand's many possibilities. Popular BitTorrent client uTorrent has released its first stable update since January: uTorrent 1.8. The changelog is huge, but the main improvements are better Vista support and IPv6 support (the latter means better connectivity and download performance). With the 1.8 release complete, the uTorrent team will be focusing more resources toward developing a long-awaited Mac version, according to TorrentFreak.

The Google Operating System blog uncovers a few snippets of JavaScript which add features to Google Docs, like a document table of contents, a thesaurus, and encyclopedia. For example, to generate a table of contents using your document's headings, enter this into the address bar while your doc is open: javascript:mr("TocSettings"); To get a dictionary, thesaurus, or encyclopedia lookup on words you've selected in your document, use: javascript:MC=NC();GC("dictionary"); for the Merriam Webster Online Dictionary; javascript:MC=NC();GC("thesaurus"); for the Merriam Webster's Online Thesaurus, and javascript:MC=NC();GC("encyclopedia"); for the Encyclopedia Brittanica. Windows only: Free multi-network instant messaging application Digsby is testing a new release with significant improvements. The very young IM client quickly found a place among the five best instant messengers with good looks and integration with social networks like Facebook, but its major drawback was a rather unwieldy memory footprint (over 150MB on some systems). The new release promises RAM usage more commensurate with other IM apps, sitting around a much more reasonable 30MB on my computer (according to their blog, it shouldn't get any higher than 50MB). In addition to memory improvements, this release also boasts performance enhancements, firewall and proxy fixes, and more. If the oversized memory footprint had held you back from using Digsby, the new release may be worth another try. Thanks Carl!
